De-Stress in 5 Minutes or Less

Here are some great tips and tricks to help you de-stress in 5 minutes or less:

When the body absorbs sunlight, it enhances the effect of mood-stabilizing chemicals like serotonin. Open the curtains during the day.

Take a virtual vacation. Close your eyes and visualize being on a luxury ocean liner. Feel the rhythm of the waves and inhale the smell of the ocean.

Jump rope. Jumping rope for 20 minutes triggers your body to release feel-good endorphins, and its repetitive motion makes you relaxed and focused.

Play music that brings up good memories. Many people find they have a visceral reaction to something they heard in their youth.

Breathe deeply. touch your middle finger and thumb together on each hand to signal to yourself that I should stop what I'm doing and take a deep, cleansing breathe. You can do it wherever you are - in the grocery store or at a conference.

When upset, recite the alphabet backwards. You really have to concentrate on the letters, so by the time you get to "P", you've forgotten what was bothering you.
